Past the city limit sign

25 Feb

I don’t know what it is about cows, but I’ve always liked them. Hopefully one day I’ll have a few of my own. Until then, I reckon I’ll keep having days like this.

Our friends Mark and Marlene have a couple hundred cows. One afternoon Mark called to see if Aliana and I wanted to ride along with him while he fed them.

Cows are cautious creatures, just like most animals. This lady wouldn’t come near me, doesn’t she know who I am?!

It’s calving season on the farm. I love to see mama cows and their babies.

Why won’t you come to me, little one? What have the other cows told you? I’m nice, I swear.

Break it up, ladies. There’s enough hay to go around.

Eat your heart out, city people. This is what I call relaxing. Nice country view of the sunset and the sweet smell of cow dung…

Run, little fella. Run to your mama!

Well, here’s the people I’ve been talking about so much lately. Mark’s Dad and my grandfather were friends. My father and Mark have always been friends and their kids and me and my siblings are all Facebook friends (oh, how times have changed). Long story short; they’re not related, but they might as well be.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have suddenly got the urge to go do the boot scootin’ boogie.
